Survivors & Craftspeople
Who to rescue, what each specialist unlocks, and how assistants work.

Survivors are the backbone of crafting progression. Rescue them, summon them inside a Flame Altar's protected area, and keep craftspeople sheltered so their services remain available.
Foundational craftspeople
| Survivor | Specialty | Important stations |
|---|---|---|
| Oswald Anders, Blacksmith | Melee gear and metalworking | Charcoal Kiln, Forge, Smelter, Blast Furnace |
| Balthazar, Alchemist | Magic gear, potions, powders | Mortar, Grinding Stones, Alchemy Station, Laboratory, Mill |
| Cade Hawthorn, Carpenter | Woodworking and construction | Kiln, Table Saw, Masonry Tools |
| Athalan Skree, Hunter | Ranged gear, leather, textiles | Drying Rack, Tanning Station, Loom, Spinning machines |
| Emily Fray, Farmer | Food, farming, animals | Seedbed, Cooking Station, Oven, Kitchen, Beehive |
These five are found through Springlands progression and should be your first rescue priority.
Specialist craftspeople
- Alden Crowley, Collector: found at the end of the Springlands Hollow Halls; unlocks ectoplasm-based items and the Ectoplasm Press.
- Valory, Bard: rescued from the Sunken Ancient City; makes instruments, backpacks, comfort decorations, and cosmetics.
- Elio Ricci, Barber: provides appearance changes and the Coloring Station.
- Captain Melville Fontane, Fisher: found at Ol' Captain's Rest; makes rods, bait, diving equipment, and fishing materials.
Seasonal craftspeople can also appear, but they should not be treated as required main progression.
Assistants
Assistants duplicate a core craftsperson's crafting services. They are especially useful when you maintain two developed bases: one can host the original craftsperson while another hosts the assistant.
Assistants do not replace the need to complete the original progression quests. Think of them as distributed access to an already unlocked production chain.
Efficient workshop layout
Group storage by specialist:
- Ores, charcoal, and bars beside the Blacksmith.
- Plants, mushrooms, creature glands, and powders beside the Alchemist.
- hides, fur, cloth, string, and feathers beside the Hunter.
- logs, planks, clay, stone, and decorative parts beside the Carpenter.
- crops, meat, water, milk, honey, and spices beside the Farmer.
Magic Chests let nearby crafting pull ingredients directly from storage, so good placement saves more time than an oversized workshop.
