Build Foundations
Reliable principles for melee, ranged, magic, and co-op characters after the skill-tree rework.

Enshrouded has no locked classes. Any connected skill-tree path is available, so a build is a package of weapon, armor, attributes, skills, food, and team role.
Melee
Prioritize survivability only until mistakes stop being fatal, then add damage that matches your weapon family. One-handed builds value block and mobility; two-handed and greatsword builds need stamina planning and safe attack windows.
Useful secondary investments include traversal, stamina, and enough ranged utility to deal with flying enemies.
Ranged
Bow builds reward positioning, stamina, and reliable ammunition supply. Dagger builds are closer-range and benefit more from mobility, critical pressure, and enemy control.
Keep a melee fallback for cramped interiors and a pickaxe for opening alternate routes.
Magic
Match spell damage types to enemy weaknesses and keep mana regeneration in the complete loadout—not just the skill tree. Wands are flexible and economical; staffs offer larger effects but require charges and longer openings.
Mage armor is less forgiving when surrounded, so movement and line-of-sight are part of the build.
Co-op
Specialization has more value when the party coordinates:
- A durable front line creates safe cast and shot windows.
- Healing and support skills gain value with consistent grouping.
- Shared food, ammunition, repair access, and traversal tools reduce downtime.
Build checklist
- Does the weapon match your damage nodes?
- Can the armor survive the content tier after upgrades?
- Do food types reinforce the same plan without duplicating a slot?
- Is stamina or mana regeneration sufficient for a full encounter?
- Can the build handle flying, armored, and resistant enemies?
- Have you kept enough utility points for travel and gathering?
