Base Planning

Plan Flame coverage, workshops, storage, shelter, comfort, water, and expansion.

Altar coverage

A Flame Altar protects building and terrain changes inside its boundary. Changes outside that boundary can reset. Upgrading the altar expands its cubic protected area:

Altar levelProtected size
140 × 40 × 40
280 × 80 × 80
3120 × 120 × 120
4160 × 160 × 160

The build zone is three-dimensional. Leave vertical room for towers, cellars, waterworks, and rooflines.

Workshop zoning

Keep frequently chained stations close together and leave clear walking routes for Survivors. Put noisy or visually dense production in a dedicated wing, then keep beds, comfort objects, and communal space in a sheltered central room.

Storage

Use a consistent category system and labels. Magic Chests should hold ingredients used by nearby crafting stations; ordinary storage is fine for weapons, armor, cosmetics, and building pieces you do not craft from frequently.

Water

Water systems can power production and support specific crops, but drainage and flow depend on terrain and placement. Build experimental channels away from irreplaceable rooms, include access for maintenance, and keep the altar's remove-water option in mind.

Multiple bases

Use secondary Altars as travel anchors, resource outposts, farms, or specialist workshops. Assistants let a second base duplicate an established craftsperson's services without moving the original.
