Food & Consumables

Food slots, food types, and a simple preparation strategy for every expedition.

Characters begin with three food slots. The Dessert Stomach skill unlocks a fourth. Only one effect from each food type can be active at once, so variety matters more than eating four foods with similar names.

Choose by purpose

  • Meat: maximum health and, on later meals, damage or defense support.
  • Fruit: health regeneration.
  • Vegetables and grains: attribute, stamina, or role-specific support depending on the recipe.
  • Sweets: usually stamina regeneration; some recipes support mana.
  • Eggs and prepared meals: mixed benefits that can efficiently cover multiple needs.

Practical loadouts

For general exploration, use one health-oriented food, one regeneration food, and one stamina or damage food. With Dessert Stomach, add a fourth effect that addresses the region: frost resistance, mana, ranged damage, or another non-duplicating food type.

Consumables to keep stocked

  • Bandages or health potions.
  • Shroud Survival Flasks for long Shroud routes.
  • Antidotes or regional resistance items when the destination calls for them.
  • Wisp of Light or torches for dark interiors.
  • Repair Kits only for expeditions where returning to a Workbench is impractical.

Refresh food before entering a dungeon, not after the first fight. A base kitchen is preparation infrastructure, not decoration.
