Skill Points and Respec
How skill points are earned in Enshrouded and how to reset your skill tree at the Flame Altar.
Last updated: 2026-08-08
Skill points fund the melee, ranger, and wizard skill trees used across every build guide on this site.
How you earn skill points
- Leveling up grants 2 skill points per level.
- Destroying a Shroud Root grants 1 skill point the first time you clear it.
- Clearing an Elixir Well grants 3 skill points the first time you clear it.
- World resets restore enemies and terrain, but roots and wells only pay out their skill points once per world, even after a server restart.
At the current level cap of 45, with every Shroud Root cleared, a character can accumulate up to 184 skill points.
Resetting your build
The Flame Altar lets you reset your skill tree at a cost of 1 Rune per spent skill point. This makes respeccing cheap early on and increasingly expensive the more points you have committed, so plan build changes around a Rune-farming pass rather than doing them impulsively.
Planning tips
- Rough out your intended build with the community skill planner before spending points blind.
- Clear Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells as you pass them rather than backtracking later; both are one-time rewards.
- Keep a small Rune reserve if you expect to respec for a boss fight or a co-op role change.
