Enshrouded Melee Tank Build
A durable one-handed melee build for solo and co-op play using current Warrior and Tank skills.
Last updated: 2026-07-27
This build pairs a one-handed melee weapon and shield with Strength, Constitution, physical mitigation, and stamina management. It is forgiving in solo play and creates safe attack windows for ranged allies in co-op.
Build summary
| Part | Priority |
|---|---|
| Main attributes | Strength, then enough Constitution for the content |
| Weapons | One-handed sword or axe plus shield |
| Armor | Current-tier Warrior/Tank armor, upgraded with Runes |
| Food | Health, stamina, and stamina regeneration |
| Co-op role | Hold close enemies and reduce party pressure |
Core skill priorities
Take connected prerequisites needed to reach these nodes:
- The Warrior's Path - increases melee weapon damage.
- Strength nodes - each point raises melee damage.
- Constitution nodes - each point raises maximum health.
- Shiny Plates - improves physical armor from equipped gear.
- Heavy Plates - raises the maximum physical mitigation armor can provide.
- Veteran - adds melee critical-hit chance.
- Swift Blades - improves the attack speed of one-handed swords and axes.
For co-op, add Earth Aura, which reduces incoming damage for you and nearby allies. Tower and Warden become more valuable in crowded encounters because their mitigation activates around three or more enemies.
Utility choices
- Battle Heal can turn melee critical hits into self-healing.
- Evasion Attack adds a stamina-costing gap closer while a melee weapon is equipped.
- Double Jump remains a strong general traversal choice after the 0.9.1 skill-tree rework.
- Purification returns Shroud time after killing a Shroud-infested enemy with melee.
Do not buy every defensive node immediately. Add durability until the build survives a mistake, then invest in the matching weapon damage and stamina economy so encounters end faster.
Combat loop
- Approach with the shield ready and isolate the closest threat.
- Block or parry a readable attack rather than trading health.
- Use the opening for a short combo.
- Keep stamina in reserve for a block, dodge, or reposition.
- Against flying enemies, carry a bow or wand as a utility weapon.
Gear and upgrade priorities
Use armor from your current progression tier and upgrade it through the Blacksmith. Prioritize armor, health, stamina, stamina regeneration, and melee bonuses that match the weapon family. A lower-tier item with a famous name is not automatically better than properly upgraded current-tier equipment.
Version note
Reviewed for Enshrouded v0.9.1.2 after the Forging the Path skill-tree rework. The rework added upgradable skills and refunded existing characters' points, so older build screenshots may show obsolete paths or values.
